Gear transmission VS Ball screw transmission!

Both ball screws and racks belong to transmission tools and are widely used in industrial fields, but they are used in different ranges because the different characteristics of them. 

Ball screw transmission and rack transmission have their own advantages, customers need to choose the appropriate drive type according to the processing purpose.

1.Installation difference

 Ball screw cnc router：The screw machine is driven by the screw and the nut as the XYZ axis. Most of the screws are made of Taiwan TBI, Taiwan PMI, Taiwan HIWIN and other brands.

 Rack and pinion cnc router：The rack machine refers to the use of rack and pinion as the XY axis transmission. The rack installation needs to reserve a gap, and the installation requires a reverse gear gauge. The rack adopts Taiwan Apex, Taiwan PMI, Taiwan YYC and Germany Atlanta and other brands. According to different machining accuracy, the tooth module is 1.25m, 1.5m, 2m….

 2.Working principle

 Ball screw cnc router：Ball screw is an ideal product for converting rotary motion into linear motion, or converting linear motion into rotary motion. Due to its small frictional resistance, ball screws are widely used in various industrial equipment and precision instruments.

 Rack and pinion cnc router：Gear racks are toothed mechanical parts that can mesh with each other. The rack is divided into straight teeth and helical teeth to realize the transfer movement, change the movement speed and change the movement direction.

 3.Comparison of advantages

 Ball screw cnc router：High transmission efficiency, sensitive and stable transmission, high positioning accuracy, good accuracy retention, high transmission rigidity, good synchronization performance, but low load capacity, short installation distance (recommended to not exceed 3m), slow running speed, price and rack quite expensive.

 Rack and pinion cnc router：It is suitable for long-distance movement, large load, high speed, long service life, and the applicable speed transmits a large range of servo power, but the positioning accuracy is low, and the transmission rigidity is low.
